Requirements

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equal and have a minimum of 5 -7 years of shipyard or marine HVAC design experience
Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word) and AutoCAD
Equipment selection and incorporation of ventilation and cooling systems for complete design on vessels
Military or government design experience with supporting calculations/design reviews
Knowledge of SNAME 4-16, ASHRAE, or similar design criteria
Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills
Familiarity with CFR, ABS, NVIC, SOLAS, and USCG rules and regulations for mechanical systems along with other applicable regulations

Job Responsibility

Must have knowledge of marine insulation, machinery ventilation, and air conditioning
Perform necessary calculations to validate design and submit required reports to classification society and/or customer
Must have the ability to use computer assisted engineering software to design the products or systems
Ability to support all production and testing activities

Job Responsibility

Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, architects, and contractors, to ensure project scope is met and systems are delivered to high quality and efficiency standards
Manage the mechanical design process by monitoring project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Conduct regular project reviews and provide timely updates to clients
Serve as the primary point of contact for all mechanical design-related queries, ensuring client needs are understood and addressed throughout the project lifecycle
Prepare detailed tender packages (including specifications, drawings, and design reports) and analyze tender submissions with recommendations for contract awards
Conduct continuous quality checks during the design and installation phases to ensure compliance with project standards and resolve any issues that arise during installation
