The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve the America’s housing crisis through all-out production. We believe that America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve this crisis. The American Dream is built, not inherited. We're hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Build System Engineering team, you will play a key role in the design and manufacturing of our build system — a proprietary kit-of-parts for building high-quality multifamily housing.
Job Responsibility:
Design both structural and non-structural build system components
Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and approvals for build system components
Create engineering drawings and work instructions for build system component manufacturing and assembly
Design and implement production equipment, processes, and tooling
Work with technicians and machinists to produce and assemble build system components
Track KPIs to understand how our engineering and manufacturing decisions impact the quality and $/sq ft of our buildings
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in hardware development
Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, DFMA, and production
Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
Proven experience delivering large complex hardware products from low-rate prototypes to full-rate production
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills
Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical discipline preferred, not required
