Job Description

Senior Mechanical Designer. Are you a seasoned Senior Mechanical Designer looking for an exciting opportunity to lead cutting-edge projects in HVAC and Plumbing design? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems for diverse new and renovation projects. Coordinate resources and ensure the successful completion of project design work.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the detailed design of various-sized projects and delegate specific tasks or scopes to other team members
  • Supervise mechanical designers and intermediate mechanical designers
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and other project sub-consultants
  • Analyze client design proposals and specifications to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective design solutions
  • Selection of mechanical equipment working with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction reports, specifications and drawings
  • Maintain project schedules and project budgets

Requirements

  • Must have 5-10 years of experience in design in HVAC, plumbing in commercial, multi-family residential, and institutional projects
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of Canadian experience
  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering and PMP certification are assets
  • Detailed understanding of all building systems, including architectural, structural, civil, electrical and fire and how they impact and are impacted by the mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of current codes and standards, such as the applicable plumbing and building codes
  • Excellent written skills and proficiency with software programs (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Ability to schedule, mentor and manage project teams of 1 to 3 people on 2 or more concurrent projects, depending on size and complexity

Nice to have

A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering and PMP certification are assets
