Requirements

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equal and have a minimum of 5 -7 years of shipyard or marine HVAC design experience
Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word) and AutoCAD
Equipment selection and incorporation of ventilation and cooling systems for complete design on vessels
Military or government design experience with supporting calculations/design reviews
Knowledge of SNAME 4-16, ASHRAE, or similar design criteria
Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills
Familiarity with CFR, ABS, NVIC, SOLAS, and USCG rules and regulations for mechanical systems along with other applicable regulations

Job Responsibility

Must have knowledge of marine insulation, machinery ventilation, and air conditioning
Perform necessary calculations to validate design and submit required reports to classification society and/or customer
Must have the ability to use computer assisted engineering software to design the products or systems
Ability to support all production and testing activities

Job Responsibility

Manage and oversee mechanical construction activities on-site, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budget, and schedule
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to effectively plan and execute mechanical installations
Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets industry standards
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues that may arise during construction, implementing prompt solutions to prevent project delays
Collaborate with the design team during the pre-construction phase to provide input on mechanical systems
Maintain comprehensive documentation of all mechanical work performed on-site
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety among all personnel involved in mechanical construction activities
