Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior Materials Management & Transportation Manager (Level M) to lead the BDS Materials Management team in Huntsville, AL. The manager in this role will develop cross-functional partnerships to achieve team and program goals while developing and implementing a Production Control environment that promotes accountability, trust, teamwork, quality and safety.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the establishment and operational launch of a new Production Control organization, defining structure, processes, and KPIs to ensure efficient production planning and execution
  • Train Mfg. Leaders and ICs in fundamental elements of PC
  • Develops and executes integrated organizational strategies, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical and operational management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports through Seek, Speak, and Listen
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes to drive First Pass Quality
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers for individual and team development
  • Assists with driving Boeing's Production System (BPS) transformation (OneBPS) The position requires someone who can coordinate and gain consensus across the organization horizontally and vertically
  • Manage the total product flow from supplier to completion, identifying issues and future challenges based on trends
  • Effectively problem solve to address production challenges and improve processes

Requirements:

  • 5+ years work experience in Production Control, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years of experience with continuous process improvement initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, assembly and/or aerospace environment
  • Ability to work any shift based on the needs of the operation
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have:

  • 5+ years of experience in using Lean principles
  • 3+ years of experience with Production Planning and/or One Boeing Production System (One BPS)
  • 3+ years advising and influencing managers or non-managers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems
  • Prior experience with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) on Material Management and Accounting System requirements, with general CAS and FAR regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
