The Senior Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that drive awareness, visitation, and engagement for OKANA, with a focus on local and regional marketing for OKANA, the Boardwalk, and community engagement. This role serves as a primary public-facing representative and brand ambassador for OKANA, acting as the voice of the brand in the local market and beyond.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a visible, trusted face of OKANA, representing the brand at community events, media engagements, openings, partnerships, and on-property activations
Host and lead property tours for media, influencers, partners, and VIPs
Act as a brand steward
Capture high-quality, on-brand photo and short-form video content
Identify real-time storytelling opportunities
Build and maintain strong relationships with media, influencers, community leaders, and VIP partners
Lead and execute local marketing initiatives that drive traffic, awareness, and spend for the OKANA Boardwalk
Develop localized campaigns, promotions, and partnerships
Manage reputation management of all outlet’s including the Boardwalk
Serve as a primary liaison between OKANA and the local community
Identify, cultivate, and manage community partnerships
Coordinate community events, sponsorships, and outreach initiatives
Build, cultivate, and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with local, regional and national media and broadcast outlets
Serve as the on-the-ground lead for identifying media opportunities
Collaborate with the PR agency to develop and refine story angles
Execute and support media needs
Act as a local extension of the PR agency
Own and protect OKANA’s brand voice across all written communications and storytelling
Write and manage website content
Lead blog strategy
Manage online reputation platforms and guest review responses
Develop and manage influencer and create partnerships
Host influencers on property
Track performance and ROI of influencer initiatives
Serve as the primary marketing owner of OKANA’s website
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on SEO and enhancements
Align website content with campaigns, PR, and social storytelling
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred
5–8+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or PR, preferably in hospitality, lifestyle, retail, entertainment, or destination brands
Proven experience serving as a public-facing brand ambassador, including hosting media or VIP engagements
Skilled at capturing mobile-first photo and video content in dynamic environments
Strong background in local marketing, community relations, and media relations
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Basic understanding of HTML
Excellent time management skills
Strong working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Competency in Adobe design programs
Flexible schedule with availability for events, openings, and media opportunities
