Requirements

A College Technologist Diploma in a relevant field and eligibility to be certified as an AScT in Nova Scotia within 30 months, OR licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer or eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training in Nova Scotia within 12 months
An attention to detail and a demonstrated ability and aptitude to problem solve technical issues
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Job Responsibility

Develop survey packages from technical documentation
Conduct visual inspections and condition surveys on marine structures (including submarines) in a heavy industrial environment
Compile inspection findings and produce survey reports
Develop Repair Specifications
Request and assess the results from Non-Destructive Testing (NDE)
Assess structure against relevant codes and standards to determine whether repairs are required
Develop technical specifications to resolve complex repairs
Provide input to risk assessments
Undertake Acceptance Activities
Conduct quality assurance activities such as work acceptance and inspections to verify completion of key steps in repair sequences

Job Responsibility

Support Marine Systems department in providing engineering services to internal and external customers
