Job Description:

In this role, you will facilitate the relationship between maritime businesses and insurance providers. You will be responsible for managing a variety of marine risks, ensuring that coverage meets the specific operational needs of each client.

Job Responsibility:

  • Risk Analysis: Reviewing client operations to identify potential vulnerabilities and creating customized insurance programs to protect their assets
  • Market Engagement: Connecting with local and international insurers to secure competitive terms and comprehensive coverage for clients
  • Placement Oversight: Managing the full process of placing insurance, from preparing market presentations to finalizing policy details and documentation
  • Stakeholder Advice: Keeping clients informed on market shifts, changes in maritime regulations, and new types of risks affecting the shipping industry
  • Claims Support: Working alongside the claims specialists to ensure that complex maritime incidents are resolved smoothly and that the client’s interests are represented

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience within marine insurance brokerage or underwriting, specifically involving ships, cargo, or maritime liability
  • A functional knowledge of both Singapore and international marine insurance markets, including standard industry contracts and global shipping regulations
  • The ability to explain complex risk details clearly and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders to reach a consensus
  • A degree in a relevant field or professional insurance certifications (such as those from the Chartered Insurance Institute) is preferred
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment

  • Generate and review required reports and recommendations
  • Meet reporting deadlines in accordance with departmental performance objectives
  • Survey client operations obtain appropriate data, identify hazards, discuss findings with appropriate parties

  • Appoint/monitor 3rd parties ensuring adequate contract/controls in place with budgets agreed up front
