At Airwallex we are building a modern, data-driven tax function to support our global growth. We are looking for a Tax Technology Lead to sit at the intersection of tax, data, and technology, leading the automation of our global tax processes, driving AI-enabled solutions, and partnering closely with our data and engineering teams to build scalable, robust tax capabilities. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Tax, based in Singapore, and will work closely with the regional tax teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and own the tax technology and automation roadmap in partnership with the Global Head of Tax and finance leadership
  • Prioritise initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve control and transparency, and enable better decision-making across direct tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing and operational taxes
  • Map end-to-end tax processes (e.g. corporate tax, GST/VAT, WHT, transfer pricing, operational tax, tax reporting) and identify opportunities for workflow redesign, standardisation and automation. Once done work to implement it
  • Build and implement technology solutions that simplify recurring tax activities
  • Build a fully centralized tax data foundation from various sources across the group (e.g., ERP, Databricks, Airtable)
  • Build an automated data collection process for CIT and VAT returns
  • Automate the way we calculate and record intercompany transactions
  • Build and maintain a single source of truth for tax data and calculations that can be reused across compliance, reporting, forecasting and planning
  • Lead the design and implementation of AI and analytics use cases for the tax team

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in tax technology, tax transformation, data/analytics, or finance systems
  • Solid understanding of tax processes (direct tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing and/or tax compliance and reporting) and how technology can support and transform them
  • Hands-on experience designing or implementing automation, data or analytics solutions (e.g. SQL, Python or similar
  • BI tools such as Looker, Tableau or Power BI
  • ETL/ELT tooling
  • workflow/RPA platforms)
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms and data modelling concepts (e.g. data warehouses/lakes, semantic layers, data quality and governance)
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional projects from problem definition through to design, implementation and adoption
  • Ability to act as a product owner: managing roadmaps, prioritising backlogs and balancing short-term delivery with long-term architecture
  • Passion for combining tax, data and technology to solve complex problems
  • Highly organized, with strong ownership, bias to action, and curiosity, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
