Job Description:

The Senior Manager Amgen External Planning (AXP) reports to the Director of Planning Amgen India, Hyderabad. In this role, the Senior Manager will oversee AXP operations related to Business Performance, Compliance, Digital Capabilities, and Supply Planning Execution. This role will require a close partnership with Amgen External Supply, Global / Regional / Site Supply Chain, Global Distribution, Contract Quality Management, Operations Finance, and AXP Regional Hubs in US / JAPAC / EU. AXP is an integral part of Global Supply Chain at Amgen, leading reliable, efficient and agile planning and delivery operations for Amgen’s CMO-sourced products. The Senior Manager located at Amgen’s Hyderabad site and their associated planning team will serve as a key pillar in the External Supply work center team structure.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drive Business Performance, Ensure Compliance, and Execute Supply
  • Partner with AXP Hubs to drive AXP business performance through the development and delivery of robust metrics and analysis of key performance drivers
  • Support the development and execution of cross-functional business reviews with senior leadership
  • Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance through management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), development of detailed guiding documents, and alignment with corporate training requirements
  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities to enhance existing processes through automation and digital solutions
  • Lead end-to-end process improvement initiatives (from design through implementation) to advance AXP business operations
  • benchmark internally and externally to adopt industry best practices
  • Develop and maintain a rolling three-year roadmap of process improvement initiatives with clearly defined deliverables and timelines
  • Ensure operational executional excellence across service purchase order management, invoicing, planning, shipping, and logistics activities
  • Deliver executional aspects for the AXP organization including but not limited to SPO creation and maintenance, ERP inventory management, and shipping logistics for product and product samples
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with AXP leadership to support global business needs
  • Mentor and Develop Talent
  • In close partnership with the Director of Planning and AXP, mature the vision for the AXP team at Amgen India
  • Align site objectives with functional goals of Global Supply Chain and External Supply and strategic goals of Amgen

  • Own and manage key business metrics, resource modeling, and workload drivers to ensure effective capacity planning and operational performance
  • Ensure all processes are executed in full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and ensure consistent execution of supply planning operational requirements in alignment with business objectives

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree and 5 years of Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Operations experience
  • Master’s degree and 12 years of Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Operations experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Operations experience
  • Associate’s degree and 17 years of Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Operations experience
  • At least 4 years’ experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience and/or training within a pharmaceutical or other GMP-regulated industry
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with experience in organizational design and operating model development
  • Experience with SAP and ERP systems and Kinaxis Rapid Response or equivalent system
  • Proven leadership capabilities with strong written, verbal, and executive-level presentation skills
  • Broad functional knowledge across Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operational Excellence
  • Deep understanding of core supply chain planning principles and best practices
  • Ability to rapidly understand complex processes, derive insights, and visualize end-to-end workflows
  • Experience in value chain optimization and multi-process improvement across planning and production environments
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing cross-functional, enterprise-scale initiatives
  • Experience with software and system development, deployment, and large-scale implementations
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing digital solutions to enhance planning and supply chain operations
