Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Android. You will spearhead some of the most exciting and high-profile features throughout our customer experience. You will lead a pair of mobile development teams (one iOS, one Android) who create and own Capital One’s in-app customer experiences around earning and viewing rewards, as well as helping customers redeem rewards for travel, experiences, cash and more. You will also create experiences that help customers understand the benefits that their cards have to offer, and help them take full advantage of the perks. Ultimately, you will have a huge impact on developing high-quality features which represent some of Capital One customers' favorite parts of having a credit card. To do this, you will lead and support tech teams who are building with the latest fully-native mobile tech, including Swift & SwiftUI, Kotlin & Jetpack Compose, and agentic AI (where applicable), and you will collaborate closely with product & design partners to bring visions to life.
Job Responsibility:
Develop Android client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles
Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences
Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality
Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities
Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, 3rd party libraries, etc.)
Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team
Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team
Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)
Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and Architects
Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams
Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions
Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms
Grow and provide SME level leadership while managing a team of mobile developers
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
At least 4 years of people management experience
At least 4 years of experience building Android applications
At least 3 years of experience with Kotlin
Nice to have:
Master’s Degree
7+ years of people management experience
7+ years of experience building Android applications
4+ years of experience with Kotlin
4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
2+ years of experience with Agile practices
