As the SHE Manager at the Unilever Hammond Dove Bar Soap Factory, you will be the driving force behind our Vision Zero—delivering zero harm to people, plant, and community. This factory-based leadership role is responsible for not only ensuring compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations, but also for building and sustaining a world-class safety culture. You will influence every level of the organization, inspiring and empowering teams to prioritize safety above all else and achieve outstanding results.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Leadership: Drive the Vision Zero agenda by inspiring and influencing all levels of the organization—from shop floor operators to senior leadership—to embrace a safety-first mindset as a core business priority
Culture Transformation: Champion a proactive safety culture where accountability and ownership are embedded in every decision. Create an environment where every individual feels empowered to protect themselves and others
Performance Excellence: Set bold EHS performance goals and lead the organization to achieve zero injuries and incidents. Monitor progress rigorously and hold teams accountable for results
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full adherence to local, national, and Unilever EHS standards. Anticipate and mitigate risks through robust assessments and preventive measures
Influential Communication: Act as a visible, approachable leader who communicates with clarity and confidence. Navigate challenging conversations with courage to drive continuous improvement and challenge the status quo
Incident Leadership: Oversee comprehensive investigations of all safety incidents, ensuring root causes are eliminated, and lessons learned are shared across the site
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with site leadership, employees, occupational health teams, and external agencies to advance EHS priorities and foster trust
Continuous Improvement: Leverage data analytics, trend insights, and industry best practices to identify improvement opportunities and implement innovative solutions
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM related discipline, or occupational health & safety
5+ years of experience in a factory-based environmental, health, safety, or process improvement role, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
In-depth knowledge of Environmental, Health, & Safety regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk management in factory operations
Ability to lead and influence at all organizational levels within a manufacturing environment
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a history of driving cultural change and leading courageous conversations
Demonstrated success in building and sustaining a high-performance safety culture
Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert data into actionable strategies
Flexibility to support a 24/7 operational environment across shifts
