The Senior Manager, Program Management Amgen India Team Lead, leads a program management team that supports cross-functional drug development across multiple programs and therapeutic areas. This role manages and develops a team of Project Managers that has a variety of responsibilities including: building and maintaining integrated, cross-functional plans and timelines; supporting global regulatory filings; ensuring planning and timeline data quality; developing dashboards and other tracking and visualization tools. The Senior Manager ensures the team is staffed and deployed to match changing business priorities, and provides senior leaders with a clear, integrated view of assignments, workload, risks, and recommended options. This leader sets and maintains consistent standards for program management execution, including tools, processes, and reporting quality, and helps the organization adopt new ways of working, including artificial intelligence-enabled approaches that improve speed, consistency, and transparency. The position is based in Hyderabad and works across Amgen’s global footprint, requiring reliable time zone coverage and strong asynchronous collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers, including hiring, onboarding, goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning
Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring through regular one-on-ones, real-time feedback, and support for individual performance and growth
Set clear expectations for execution quality, communication, and ways of working

Build and maintain a training and capability plan (role readiness, tools, templates, reporting expectations, and leadership communication)
Support career development by identifying growth opportunities, clarifying career paths, and providing guidance on skills needed for progression
Address capability or performance gaps early with structured coaching plans, targeted training, and role adjustments when needed
Establish sustainable working norms across a global footprint, including creating robust overlapping time zone coverage, meeting windows, and strong asynchronous practices
Lead intake and triage of program support requests, confirming scope, priority, and expected outcomes with key stakeholders

Partner with senior leaders to align priorities, assignments, and expected deliverables across supported programs
Provide clear leadership updates on program status, team coverage, constraints, key challenges, and recommended options and tradeoffs
Align with cross-functional leaders to confirm roles, handoffs, timelines, and expectations for key deliverables
Facilitate early escalation when work is at risk of not meeting expectations or timelines due to capacity, dependency, or priority changes, and drive alignment on a path forward
Reinforce strong communication practices across the team (clear writing, timely updates, action ownership, and closed-loop follow-through)
Define, implement, and continuously improve program management standards for tools, templates, reporting, and quality expectations
Ensure the team follows applicable policies, procedures, and required compliance practices within scope
Ensure quality and coach for consistency, clarity, and completeness
Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend and leverage practical AI-enabled solutions
Drive disciplined follow-through on commitments across the team’s scope and reinforce accountability for outcomes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s/Master's degree and 12 - 18 years of cross-functional program management experience in large and/or small molecule pharmaceutical programs, including global submissions
5 plus years of people leadership experience, including coaching, motivating, performance management, and development of direct reports
Experience in large and/or small molecule pharmaceutical industry, supporting late-stage drug development, global filings, commercialization
People leadership and team development experience, including coaching, performance management, and building team capability
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence outcomes without formal authority in a global, matrixed environment
Strong executive communication skills, including translating complex information into clear updates, risks, and options for senior leaders
Strong program management capability, including integrating timelines, status, risk, and resourcing into a clear, actionable view
proficient with common program management and visualization tools (e.g., Planisware, Smartsheet, MS Project, OnePager, Tableau)
Experience working in regulated environments and ensuring teams follow documented processes and compliance expectations
Nice to have:
Experience establishing standards across a program management team (tools, templates, reporting expectations, quality)
Experience with AI-enabled or digital ways of working applied to planning, reporting, or execution discipline
