Job Description

The Senior Manager, Procurement, Contract Manufacturing is responsible for developing global sourcing strategies for all Electronic Contract Manufacturing. This role will provide leadership for indirect reports and display critical thinking and expertise of Contract Manufacturing cost and operational structures to advance Baxter Global Business Units (GBUs) mission agenda to Sustain and Save Lives.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for supplier relationship management, pricing, and risk assessment
  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies to multi-source and assurance of supply
  • Responsible for negotiations and contracting
  • Develop robust category strategies that reduce supply base, reduce dependence on single/sole sourced suppliers, deliver continuity of supply, and provide for annual cost reductions
  • Deliver annual MIP (cost reductions) and PPV objectives at category and plant levels
  • Jointly, with supplier quality, address supplier quality issues timely
  • Joint development and execution of long-term strategies, aligned with the External Contract Manufacturing strategy, that will optimize Baxter's global position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost
  • Partner closely with Baxters's R&D organization, this individual will work to mitigate risk and continuously work to develop and improve supplier systems and processes
  • Responsible for using technology, VA/VE, and purchasing power to reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation and optimization of supplier agreements
  • Lead the strategy for a cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity team in the development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned commodities, in support of business objectives, contract ownership, quality assurance, technology/new product development, risk mitigation, and total cost
  • Own strategies that extend through the global supply chain including primary and sub-tier suppliers
  • Effectively manages long-term relationships with suppliers and internal partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Procurement or Supply Chain
  • Experience in a regulated and highly technical environment preferred, such as experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial OEM, and/or Medical Device industries
  • Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million dollar contracts and agreements and major policies
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively to senior leadership both internally and externally
  • Risk management abilities required to drive innovative solutions and problem solving analysis and resolution
  • Seasoned negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, complex RFQ's and innovative purchasing tools
  • Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure
  • High level technical and financial proficiency
  • Ability to think strategically and globally
  • Ability to manage diverse partner interests and expectations
  • Strong understanding in building category strategies and complex pricing arrangements and supplier profitability
  • Contract Manufacturing, Electronic and/or electromechanical knowledge preferred
  • Strong ethical background
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, corrective and preventative action, product quality assurance systems, and supplier performance development and evaluation is helpful
