Job Description

Marriott International is seeking a Analyst to specialize in delivering novel functions and applications in HR. In this role, you will develop and implement technical solutions within our Analytics Research team, building tools and quantitative models to address external market competitiveness, internal equity, legal compliance, data engineering, and information extraction. You will support the development and maintenance of predictive models, leveraging advanced analytics techniques to enhance critical programs across Marriott’s HR Solutions.

Job Responsibility

  • Design and develop robust full-stack applications to streamline and automate compensation and data analytics processes
  • Implement effective back-end solutions, including APIs, databases, and server-side scripting
  • Build user-friendly front-end interfaces in collaboration with UI/UX designers to present analytical findings and tools effectively
  • Develop and maintain application documentation, including flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
  • Ensure application operability by troubleshooting and resolving software or implementation issues
  • Conduct application performance tests, including stress, load and security tests, and troubleshoot issues to optimize performance
  • Writes software and utility software tools to create and test new models
  • Interact with cross-functional teams to solve business and process
  • Provide input on solution structure, tasks, timeline and estimates for deliverables
  • Prioritize application feature development based on stakeholder feedback, and iterative user testing
  • Present findings to stakeholders and design usable tools for decision-making
  • Partner with planning teams to articulate possible solutions to business problems and to develop requirements for new models
  • Prepare detailed specifications for translation of complex business processes into models and prototypes
  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders to gain an understanding of customer needs and business goals, to drive product direction and design solutions that address customer needs
  • Scope large-scale analytics projects, breaking them down into distinct bodies of work that are clearly defined and executable by one or more parties
  • Write, update, and maintain technical requirements. These technical requirements should be able to be easily understood and translated into code by technical resources that are not in attendance at business facing calls
  • Develop analytics applications with an eye towards elegant design and a global set of users, with a focus on co-designing with stakeholders and incorporating feedback consistently and in perpetuity. Use mockups or other tools to ensure feedback from appropriate stakeholders
  • Design, build, test, and deploy new web application pages, data visualizations, or other tools to support in key HR business processes, with a focus on simplicity, non-technical, and easy to navigate interfaces
  • Collaborate with global HR professionals, COE partners, and HR Leadership to define, build, and test the best analytics/technology solution for the end user. Continue to iterate to work towards the best design solution
  • Conceptualize, design and build data models and materialized views for use by the broader analytics team, and key analytics HR super users
  • Lead governance, and documentation including: ongoing data governance activities, testing plans, technical/ application/ and system documentation, and standardization of methods across all Talent Analytics products
  • Explain complex analytics to a broad audience with varying levels of technical background and understanding. This includes both those that are more technical and less technical than this role
  • Partners with HR leaders to support their efforts through understanding custom applications, strategic analysis, tracking performance vs. goals, driving process improvements, providing recommendations and insights for future efforts
  • Design and produce UI/UX recommendations using wireframes, site maps, etc. using Figma or other prototyping tools
  • Help define technical standards and calculations for talent analytics and reporting
  • Conduct deep dive analytics relative to user adoption and behavior and the effectiveness of all Talent Analytics products

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data: e.g. a Master’s Degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Operations Research), relevant work experience, or some combination of the above
  • Proficiency with statistical methods, especially multiple regression, time series analyses, experimental design, multi-variate
  • Proficiency with a language like R, Python, or Java
  • Experience with SQL in large environments
  • Hands-on experience working with current relevant technologies such as Jupyter Notebooks, Docker, Spark, Tensor Flow, AWS, SageMaker, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and communicate vision and roadmaps to achieve target state architecture across people, process, and technology dimensions
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to independently analyze problems, assess risks, and recommend solutions

  • Previous experience working web applications, Flask/Django/React.js/HTML/JS/CSS Knowledge of upcoming pay transparency/CSRD laws
