The Senior Manager Hook Up & Commissioning is tasked with developing departmental plans, including business, production, and organizational priorities. The role requires multi-disciplinary expertise and an understanding of the industry to achieve financial and operational objectives. The Senior Manager Hook Up & Commissioning manages multiple related teams, sets organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources. They must identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems. They directly impact business results by supporting and function-specific projects, products, services, and technologies and developing policies and plans.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and specifications while maintaining rigorous quality control standards
Implement best practices and industry standards in hook-up and commissioning operations, seeking continuous improvement opportunities
Lead and direct all aspects of the Hook Up & Commissioning (HUC) phase for projects in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) industry
Develop comprehensive strategies and plans to ensure the smooth execution of HUC activities
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and operations to align HUC activities with project milestones
Monitor and ensure compliance with project schedules, budget, quality, and safety standards during the HUC phase
Provide technical guidance and expertise in all HUC-related matters to ensure successful project delivery
Review and approve HUC procedures, methodologies, and work plans to optimize efficiency and reduce risks
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical challenges and ensure adherence to project specifications
Utilize industry best practices to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for HUC processes
Supervise a multidisciplinary team of HUC professionals, ensuring effective utilization of resources and fostering a positive work environment
Set performance expectations, provide coaching and mentorship, and conduct regular performance evaluations for direct reports
Identify skill gaps and provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and ensure project success
Foster strong collaborations across teams and stakeholders to enhance communication, productivity, and the overall success of HUC activities
Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Hook Up & Commissioning within the EPCI industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role
Proven track record of successfully delivering HUC projects to completion, with a strong understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations
In-depth knowledge of HUC methodologies, procedures, and best practices within the EPCI industry
Proficient in project management principles, with a focus on schedule and cost control
Excellent understanding of technical integrity, safety, and quality requirements for HUC activities
Familiarity with relevant software tools and systems for project planning, scheduling, and reporting
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to accomplish project goals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders
Proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts, make informed decisions, and negotiate contracts and agreements
