As a Government Affairs Senior Manager, you will report directly to Axon’s Sr. Director of Government Affairs and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the team’s state and local legislative and regulatory, sales procurement, and grassroots advocacy efforts in the Northeast region (KY, WV, VA, MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, VT, RI, NH, ME). You will help drive Axon’s presence and position with state, city and county governments related to issues impacting the company, the sales team, and the industry. You will be a representative of Axon and lead meetings with state, city and county government officials to advance Axon’s position with relevant government and law enforcement stakeholders, as well as to drive broader awareness and support for Axon’s mission.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the development of strategic government affairs planning with a focus on supporting business development
Monitor and assess state legislative and regulatory actions and initiatives
Prepare position papers and project messaging points
Lead meetings with elected officials, appointed officials, and government staffers
Develop and maintain contacts with industry, elected officials and associations/third party groups
Work closely with the sales team on assigned procurement opportunities
Conduct research on local purchasing by-laws, council legislative process, and create purchasing process maps for city and county governments to support sales team efforts
Assist in management of external government affairs consultants
Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years combined full-time employment in city/county/state government and/or government relations firm
Experience driving legislation
Strong policy and analytical skills
Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing work assignments under deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information
Recognized ability to work independently to drive assigned goals but also a team player to support the holistic needs of the department and the company
A strong desire to continually improve and undertake new challenges
A strong sense of accountability with high ethical standards
Nice to have:
Experience working with city, county, or state governments is a plus
