Lead data-driven transformation at Riverflex. At Riverflex, we help organizations unlock the full potential of their data through scalable, cloud-native platforms and modern analytics solutions. We are looking for a Senior Manager Data Engineering to join our Intelligence & Data (I&D) practice and play a key role in shaping our data engineering capability, leading complex client engagements, and growing high-performing teams. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with leadership and strategic ownership. You will architect enterprise-scale data platforms, guide teams in delivering end-to-end data solutions, and act as a trusted advisor to clients—driving impactful, data-driven transformation across industries.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of end-to-end data platforms on cloud environments (Azure, Databricks)
Define and oversee the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines (batch and real-time)
Act as the technical authority on data engineering topics across client engagements
Ensure platform reliability, performance, monitoring, and cost efficiency
Lead, mentor, and grow teams of data engineers, fostering engineering excellence and best practices
Set standards for data modeling, data quality, testing, documentation, and governance
Contribute to capability building within the D&A practice, including tooling, accelerators, and reusable frameworks
Support hiring, onboarding, and career development of data engineering talent
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions
Lead technical discussions, solution proposals, and roadmap planning with clients
Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, product, and platform teams to enable data products and insights
Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR)
Evaluate and introduce new technologies and approaches to improve scalability, performance, and developer experience
Drive adoption of modern data stack principles, DevOps/DataOps, and cloud-native architectures
Support pre-sales activities and contribute to shaping Riverflex’s data engineering vision
Requirements:
A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
7+ years of experience in data engineering roles
Proven experience leading complex data engineering projects and technical teams
Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Spark)
Extensive experience with Azure and Databricks in enterprise environments
Deep understanding of data modeling, lakehouse architectures, and modern data warehousing concepts
Experience with real-time data ingestion, orchestration, and workflow management (e.g. Airflow, Azure Data Factory)
Strong background in DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
Solid understanding of data governance, quality, security, and compliance
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
Fluency in English
Dutch language proficiency is a plus
Nice to have:
Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment
Exposure to MLOps or enabling data pipelines for machine learning use cases
Experience with tools such as dbt, Looker, or similar modern analytics stacks
Experience contributing to data strategy, roadmaps, or pre-sales activities
