Job Description:

Our client—a fast-growing construction organization experiencing significant expansion and several newly awarded projects—is seeking a Senior Manager, Construction Finance & Commercial Risk to join their corporate finance and commercial oversight team. This role is ideal for a finance leader with deep construction industry experience, strong contract and claims management capabilities, and a background that may include CFO, Director, or VP-level responsibilities within a smaller or mid-sized firm. This position is both strategic and hands-on, supporting complex project portfolios while ensuring financial integrity, commercial compliance, and effective risk mitigation across the organization. You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, subcontractors, and external partners to guide decisions that impact operational excellence and profitability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead financial review and analysis for construction projects, including budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and variance reporting
  • Oversee commercial contract management, including contractual compliance, risk allocation, financial terms, and claims review
  • Partner with project teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to validate financial data and ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with insurance providers to manage commercial risk documentation and ensure adequate coverage across all project phases
  • Prepare and present financial insights, claims summaries, and risk assessments to senior leadership
  • Support strategic planning, cost management, and financial reporting alignment with corporate objectives
  • Utilize JD Enterprise and internal technology platforms

  • Participate in regular project review meetings to evaluate key metrics, risks, and performance drivers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required
  • 5–10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, contracts, or commercial project oversight
  • Construction industry experience strongly preferred (top priority)
  • Must have experience in at least two of the following: Construction project or corporate financial management
  • Accounting or financial analysis
  • Contract or commercial management (high priority)
  • Insurance or risk management
  • Strong understanding of claims management, contractual language, and financial controls
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to support senior leadership and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, and adaptable to evolving software and processes
  • Must have GC or subcontract construction experience on the finance side or contract negotiation
