As Senior Manager Commercial Development, you will join our Major Partnerships and Innovation team and play a pivotal role in leading and managing the development of commercial opportunities for our Retail, Brand and Marketing division. In this newly created role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation by identifying and executing bold, forward-thinking opportunities that align with our 2–5-year strategic vision. Working closely with various stakeholders, you will identify key problem spaces and prioritise commercial opportunities, managing the innovation pipeline, executing lean test-and-learn experiments, and building the capabilities and assets required to support the Retail strategy for eventual transition to BAU functions. This is a fixed term opportunity until June 30, 2026. Your initial focus will be on supporting innovation in our current partnerships and driving growth while simultaneously establishing the foundations of a robust innovation function through the development of tools, governance frameworks, and streamlined processes. You will champion innovation by clearly articulating its value and impact across the business, engaging senior leaders in decision-making and fostering a culture where creativity and agility thrive across Retail teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the development and delivery of initiatives that build critical retail assets or capabilities, driving long-term growth and competitive differentiation
  • Establish a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities by identifying and prioritising strategic problem spaces and arenas that require novel solutions or new capabilities
  • Design, implement, and refine innovation policies, processes, and frameworks that align with RB&M/AP's strategic goals
  • Build innovation capability across the Retail business by fostering a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Experience building team and organisation capability in human-centred design, lean startup experimentation and agile delivery
  • Preference for an understanding of market trends and customer behaviour in the retail & freight industries, but not required
  • Capability to build an innovation pipeline that has strong internal sponsorship and is aligned with organisational goals and long-term strategic plans.
