Job Description:

Support Aetna's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals through effective underwriting. Underwriting support primarily includes identifying, evaluating, and managing risk in order to maximize revenue, membership and earnings.

Job Responsibility:

Support Aetna's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals through effective underwriting
Perform accurate underwriting analysis and risk assessment for new and/or renewal of large group contracts
Prepare and deliver complex, high profile new business quotes and/or existing business renewals
Collaborate with field sales and account management on complex or high-profile cases
Present information to employers, brokers, and consultants
Independently review work for accuracy, identify risks and make recommendations
Utilize advanced functionality of underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials
Grant underwriting exceptions/financial variances within authority limits
Negotiate pricing and escalate exceptions outside authority limit
Produce timely and accurate customer specific documents and deliverables
Assist department with projects or workgroups
Identify training gaps and recommend appropriate course of action
Mentor less experienced underwriters in development of technical skills
Ensure all underwriting practices comply with relevant industry regulations and company policies

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
5+ years' experience in underwriting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements
Prior healthcare underwriting experience
In-depth knowledge of rating and/or accounting and underwriting concepts
Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents
Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications
