The Senior Mammography Technologist serves as a subject matter expert within the breast imaging team, delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging while supporting clinical excellence, quality standards, and team development. This role is ideal for an experienced mammography professional who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining rigorous imaging standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Perform mammography imaging exams in compliance with radiation safety and quality standards
Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures, positioning appropriately, and ensuring comfort
Select appropriate imaging techniques to ensure optimal diagnostic image quality
Enter, monitor, and maintain accurate patient data and documentation
Conduct quality assurance testing and routine checks on mammography equipment
Support accreditation efforts, including initial and renewal documentation, as needed
Identify and report equipment issues, incidents, or patient concerns to leadership
Participate in departmental emergency call rotation
Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
Adhere to departmental productivity, quality, and operational standards
Complete required continuing education and maintain competency requirements
Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and clinical resource for less experienced technologists
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Graduate of an approved Mammography Technology program
Current Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist license, MRT, or temporary license
ARRT certification in Radiography, ARRT-R
ARRT certification in Mammography, ARRT-M
Basic or Advanced Life Support certification
Minimum of four years of hands-on mammography experience required
Advanced proficiency in mammography imaging techniques and quality standards
Ability to safely lift, assist, and position patients with team support as needed
Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and patient-centered communication
Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, collaboration, compassion, and results-oriented practice
