Amentum has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Maintenance Specialist with experience assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing various shipboard damage control machinery, equipment and systems. The position will be supporting the USS John C. Stennis CVN-74 during a Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH). If you have experience as a shipboard Damage Controlman, Hull Technician or other mechanical rating, this may be the position you have been looking for.
Job Responsibility
The Maintenance Specialist will become an integral part of CEMAT-ACCCIT in support of the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) onboard JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).
The ideal Maintenance Specialist will have prior shipboard mechanical HM&E repair and testing experience.
The Maintenance Specialist will be working as part of a small cross-functional team. When not working in their primary specialty they may be required to assist other members of the team in the performance of their work including by not limited to standing fire watch or safety watch.
Requirements
Twelve (12) years’ experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine hull and damage control equipment is required including: Six (6) years’ experience in a position of supervisory responsibility over a subordinate work force involved in the physical maintenance and repair of hull and damage control equipment systems
Five (5) years’ experience with shipboard hull and damage control equipment
One (1) year experience as a technical instructor
Applicant must be able to obtain a Newport News Shipyard access badge.
The applicant must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes of no less than 30 pounds.
The applicant must be able to ships in a shipyard environment under industrial conditions.
The applicant must be able to work on and climb vertical ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, and in confined spaces.
The applicant may be exposed to fumes and other irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases, various cleaning solutions, and solvents requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include a respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and hard toed safety boots.
The applicant will be required to obtain and maintain certain qualifications such as: Fire Watch qualified
Shipyard Competent Person (Confined Space)
Respirator qualified to include a physical and fit test
OSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-hour training course.
