As a Senior Mainframe SRE, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, evolution, and operational excellence of critical re-platformed middleware services supporting enterprise workloads following the transition from historical z/OS environments. You will lead operational and engineering activities across the middleware stack, driving stability, modernization, recoverability, and service improvement initiatives while coordinating closely with IBM, infrastructure teams, cloud/platform engineers, and application stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Lead critical platform activities across re-platformed middleware services, including incident management, upgrades, patching, feature enablement, and structural platform improvements
Own the operational evolution of the re-hosted CICS/TX and MQ platforms running on Linux-based environments
Coordinate with IBM, infrastructure teams, application groups, and cloud/platform engineering teams to ensure platform reliability, resilience, and modernization readiness
Define and maintain technical standards for platform availability, operational excellence, performance management, housekeeping, monitoring, and root cause analysis
Drive reliability and recoverability initiatives, including disaster recovery readiness, backup validation, failover testing, and service continuity improvements
Support platform modernization and cloud-readiness initiatives while ensuring production stability and controlled change implementation
Act as the escalation point for complex incidents, performance issues, service degradation, and critical operational events
Lead operational governance activities, including maintenance planning, change-window coordination, risk assessment, and release readiness validation
Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, observability, operational efficiency, and service resilience
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
10-15 years of experience in managing enterprise middleware platforms in large-scale production environments
Strong expertise in CICS/TX and IBM MQ administration, upgrades, clustering, performance tuning, and operational support
Strong experience supporting Linux-hosted middleware environments with focus on reliability, resilience, and operational governance
Proven experience in enterprise platform modernization, migration, or re-platforming initiatives
Strong understanding of disaster recovery, service continuity, operational readiness, and recoverability testing practices
Experience coordinating with vendors, infrastructure teams, and application stakeholders in complex enterprise environments
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident management capabilities
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills
Ability to operate effectively within highly critical and governance-driven environments
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
