About the opportunity: You will report to the Senior Manager – Network Modelling & Optimisation, in this role you will develop, maintain, and enhance cost models used for network planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting. You’ll work closely with network planning, engineering, and finance teams to provide insights that drive strategic decision-making and optimise network investment. This is a hands-on, analytical role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, interrogating data, and building models that shape the future of our logistics network. You’ll be comfortable working with messy, conflicting data, and have the initiative to go out and get the information you need from across the business.
Job Responsibility:
Build and maintain network cost models using Excel and other data tools
Gather, clean, and analyse quantitative cost data (e.g., transport costs, machine outputs, resource allocation) to support operational and financial decision-making
Conduct scenario analyses to evaluate the financial implications of network strategies and investment options
Prepare and present detailed reports on network costs and financial performance to senior management and stakeholders
Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including network development, finance, digital/data teams, and external partners as required
Document and communicate logical supply chain scenarios for review and implementation
Lead and embed a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and customer focus across the function
Requirements:
Experience in finance, operations research, or modelling roles (ideally 3+ years), covering cost estimating, cost-to-serve, activity-based costing, and cost reconciliations
Ability to build baseline and future cost models, reconcile data, and validate assumptions
Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, R, PowerBI)
Aptitude for learning and applying new tools and techniques
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence outcomes
A passion for learning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
Nice to have:
Desirable: Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Financial Modelling, or a related field
