As a Localisation Engineer at Heidi, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the technical frameworks that enable our products to be seamlessly localised across multiple languages and regions. You will partner with product managers, engineers, designers, and linguists to ensure our software is internationalisation-ready, localisation processes are efficient, and the final experience is high-quality in every market. This role is highly collaborative and technical, you’ll be the bridge between engineering and localisation, automating workflows, troubleshooting issues, and driving improvements in how Heidi delivers global experiences.
Job Responsibility:
Design, implement, and optimise localisation workflows and automation pipelines
Ensure our products are technically prepared for internationalisation (i18n), covering text handling, date/time/number formats, currency, right-to-left support, and encoding standards
Manage and integrate localisation platforms such as Crowdin, Smartling, and other TMS solutions with Heidi’s development and release processes
Support multiple file formats (JSON, XML, XLIFF, resource bundles, etc.) and ensure smooth integration with source control systems (e.g. Git)
Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and QA teams to resolve localisation issues and ensure UI/UX works across languages
Conduct functional, linguistic, and UI testing for localised builds, troubleshooting issues like text expansion, truncation, or display errors
Build and maintain localisation documentation, style guides, glossaries, and best practices
Continuously improve localisation infrastructure for scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
Requirements:
Experience as a localisation engineer or in a related technical role
Strong understanding of localisation and internationalisation principles
Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g. Python, JavaScript, or similar) to automate workflows
Hands-on experience with localisation platforms such as Crowdin, Smartling, or comparable TMS/CAT tools
Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) and automation of localisation within build pipelines
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug technical and linguistic issues
Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across teams
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, global-ready products
