Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Part-Time Senior Loan Underwriter for a long term project in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In this Contract to permanent role, you will leverage your expertise to assess residential mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced banking environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Evaluate residential mortgage applications to ensure adherence to lending guidelines, including FHA, FNMA, and FMLMC requirements
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and analyze applicant financial data to determine creditworthiness
  • Stay updated on federal and state regulations, applying relevant policies during the underwriting process
  • Collaborate closely with loan officers and other team members to resolve application discrepancies and meet deadlines
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all underwriting decisions
  • Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports and track loan processing metrics
  • Ensure compliance with the S.A.F.E. Act by completing required registration as a mortgage loan originator
  • Develop solutions for complex underwriting challenges, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicate underwriting decisions effectively and professionally to stakeholders
  • Contribute to process improvements and maintain high standards of organizational efficiency

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting
  • In-depth knowledge of FHA, FNMA, and FMLMC guidelines and residential underwriting policies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting purposes
  • Solid understanding of federal and state lending regulations
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
