Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Loan Officer-Underwriter to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This role involves evaluating and processing various types of loans, including auto loans, RV loans, personal loans, and more. As part of a long-term contract position, you will play a key role in ensuring loan applications are thoroughly reviewed and compliant with financial guidelines while providing education and support to clients when necessary.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assess loan applications for auto loans, RV loans, boat loans, personal loans, and other financial products
  • Review credit reports to determine loan eligibility and make informed lending decisions
  • Provide financial education and guidance to applicants who may not qualify for loans, referring them to coaching resources when needed
  • Ensure all underwriting processes comply with banking regulations and company policies
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient loan processing workflows
  • Analyze borrower information to evaluate risk and recommend loan approval or denial
  • Maintain accurate records of loan applications and underwriting decisions
  • Offer exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting loan underwriting
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and client satisfaction within the loan process

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in loan underwriting, particularly with auto loans, RV loans, and personal loans
  • Strong knowledge of credit reports and the ability to assess financial risk
  • Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and banking regulations
  • Excellent communication skills for educating clients and collaborating with team members
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on financial analysis
  • Proficiency in loan origination and underwriting software
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple loan applications simultaneously
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and maintaining confidentiality
