A well-established Downtown San Diego law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney to join its complex civil defense and regulatory practice. The firm represents insurers, institutional clients, and regulated entities in matters involving technical legal issues, layered procedures, and high exposure. This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys structured litigation, regulatory nuance, and sophisticated defense work.
Job Responsibility:
Handle all phases of litigation, from early case assessment through trial and appeal
Draft substantive motions, including dispositive and evidentiary motions
Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives
Prepare witnesses and manage expert strategy
Appear in court, arbitration, and administrative proceedings
Coordinate with regulatory agencies, experts, and consultants
Support trial preparation, including jury instructions, motions in limine, and trial briefs
Requirements:
7-15+ years of civil litigation experience
Experience with insurance, construction, regulatory, or professional liability matters preferred
Strong procedural knowledge and courtroom presence
Trial or hearing experience in state or federal court
Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
Comfortable meeting a ~1,800 billable hour expectation
