To assist the Duty Manager in the day-to-day management of their Centre, by conducting the monitoring & supervisory duties below. Along with their substantive role of supervising members of the public in the Swimming Pool and all other allocated Leisure areas, responding in accordance with National Operating Procedures (NOP) and Emergency Action Protocols (EAP), and providing ongoing cleaning throughout the shift to provide customers with a safe and clean environment. To cover absences within the Duty Manager team.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the Duty Manager in the day-to-day management of their Centre
Conduct monitoring & supervisory duties
Supervise members of the public in the Swimming Pool and all other allocated Leisure areas
Respond in accordance with National Operating Procedures (NOP) and Emergency Action Protocols (EAP)
Provide ongoing cleaning throughout the shift
Cover absences within the Duty Manager team
Assist with the induction, training and mentoring of all leisure staff and work experience placements
Assist the Duty Manager by identifying and reporting any technical or health & safety concerns promptly
Assist the Duty Manager with monitoring of the buildings pool plant and dosing systems
Assist with recording pool water and chemical readings and following set procedures to rectify any irregularities
Report all actions taken and any concerns to the Duty Manager
Carry out a pool backwash under the instruction of the Duty Manager
Supervise members of the public in the Swimming Pool and all Leisure areas
Respond in accordance with the PSOP (Pool Standard Operating Procedures)
Attend statutory training on a monthly basis
Ensure the building security, opening/locking up all public areas as per the facility programme
Control, assist and ensure the safety of members of the public using the facilities
Act as lifeguard and making use of lifesaving skills to rescue bather in difficulty
Administer first aid as required
Provide high customer care at all times, answering queries, complaints and directing patrons
Control the behaviour of centre users in accordance with Centre instructions
Set up and take down sports equipment as required for various events and sports activities
Move furniture and equipment in an out of stores and about the building as required
Undertake cleaning duties including cleaning the pool bottom, pool surrounds, footbaths etc
Check shower and toilet areas for serviceability, damage or evidence of misuse and taking appropriate action where necessary
Assist in evacuation of the building by carrying out specific procedures in the event of fire, bomb alerts or other emergencies
Ensure company policies relating to NOP of the centre and EAP are adhered to
Be the Duty Manager when required
Cover all absences and attending all training relevant to the Duty Managers role as required
Requirements:
Hold a current National Pool Lifeguard qualification (NPLQ)
Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills
Emergency First Aid qualification
Customer care qualification
Coaching qualification
Pool Plant Operators qualification
At least 3 years experience of working as a lifeguard
Previous work with children and young persons
Relevant experience of work in a leisure centre environment
Practicable experience of sport set ups
Understanding of customer care and equality in service delivery
Knowledge of health & safety including COSHH
In Pool Plant Operations
In associated mechanical plant relating to the operation of a leisure facility
Have required swimming ability (NPLQ standard)
Ability to take instruction and work at own initiative
A good team player
