We’re looking for a UK-qualified Commercial Counsel to join our Legal team and partner closely with our NORAM and UK-NE sales teams. You’ll be a key business partner for our teams, owning the negotiation of commercial contracts and helping build scalable legal processes that support Filigran’s growth. You’ll also play a central role in shaping and driving Filigran’s privacy and AI compliance strategies, working with Product, Security, and leadership to turn regulatory requirements into pragmatic, business-enabling solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with our NORAM and UK-NE sales teams to advise on and negotiate customer deals and contracts
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts
Help drive Filigran’s privacy and AI compliance strategies
Collaborate with the General Counsel on internal training workshops, legal operations strategy, guidelines and policy drafting
Support our People team with regional employment-related questions and ad hoc contract reviews
Handle regional “housekeeping” matters
Coordinate, manage, and challenge outside counsel on various legal topics
Triage and address a broad range of legal and business issues
Requirements:
Qualified lawyer in the UK
5+ years’ combined experience at a law firm and in-house (minimum 2 years in-house) in a start-up/scale-up or technology company environment
Strong commercial contracts expertise
Solid knowledge and/or keen interest in several of: IT and IP law, commercial law, corporate law, employment law, privacy/data protection, and emerging AI regulation
Demonstrated interest or experience in privacy and AI compliance
Highly organised and efficient
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a remote, async-first environment
Strong interpersonal skills
Tech-savvy and curious about new technologies
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
French is a strong plus
Experience supporting international sales teams and/or working with SaaS businesses operating across Europe and North America, including on privacy and AI-related topics
