Provide company with high-quality, accurate, and timely legal advice and support on all legal risks and legal issues to assist it to achieve its aims in a lawful, effective, ethical and accountable manner. Provide services to the JVs/ IPPs as assigned by the General Counsel to assist them to function lawfully and effectively.
Job Responsibility:
Legal Analysis and Compliance: Manage in-depth legal research activities to identify relevant changes in laws and regulations that could impact QEWC, its joint ventures, and independent power producers
Lead the implementation of new compliance protocols and guidelines across the organization
Lead regular audits of organizational practices against compliance standards and legal requirements
Contract and Document Oversight: Lead and manage the initial drafting and detailed review of various contracts and agreements
Actively participate in the creation and revision of corporate policies and procedures
Engage in the negotiation of contract terms with partners and suppliers
Litigation & Legal Project Management: Manage the preparation of all documentation required for litigation and dispute resolution processes
Serve as the primary contact for external legal advisors and services
Lead specific legal projects or initiatives as directed by the General Counsel
Strategy Formulation, Implementation and Planning: Develop and direct the implementation of the department strategy ensuring alignment to divisional strategy, QEWC’s vision, mission and corporate objectives
Ensure that department strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented
Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to QEWC leadership
Leadership: Manage the effective achievement of departmental objectives through effective leadership and by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating team to maximise performance
Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned department
Budgeting and Financial Performance: Oversee the consolidation and recommend the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures: Develop and lead the implementation of department policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned functional area
Change Management: Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of department systems, processes and practices
Reporting: Ensure that all department reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet QEWC requirements, policies and quality standards
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business or similar discipline from a reputable university with a preference for the candidates holding an MBA
12 years of experience in similar roles in large companies, of which at least 5 years are in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities, demonstrating a strong need for effective leadership skills
Demonstrated strategic thinking ability with strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Solid leadership and people management skills
Established understanding of power / energy and water sectors, emerging trends, technologies and key players
A demonstrable track record of working at the highest standards and delivering outstanding results, including managing change and delivering on growth strategies
Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (significant plus)
Excellent relationship building skills
Extensive skills in leading teams from a multi-cultural background
Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work with key stakeholders, senior executives, management team and external partners/advisors through collaboration & teamwork in a non-hierarchical relationship framework
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment
