Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel, Pharmaceutical Contracting, provides strategic legal counsel to senior internal business partners supporting Retail Trade including in product development, services agreements, and healthcare-related regulations and law analysis and interpretation. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify legal and business risk, develop practical solutions that balance legal requirements with business objectives, and actively drive matters to timely completion. The Senior Counsel will be expected to develop a keen understanding of Retail Trade and operational goals of assigned internal clients and work diligently to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal clients at all levels of the organization.

Job Responsibility

  • Retail Trade contracting and advisory support: Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide variety of Retail Trade agreements, including enhanced strategic patient outreach agreements, shelf stock agreements, product purchase agreements, and dispensing data agreements
  • Advise internal clients on contract terms, requirements, and applicable healthcare legal/regulatory considerations
  • Assess business, economic, and operational impacts of contract positions and regulatory requirements
  • recommend practical paths forward
  • Support ongoing compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Retail Pharmacy, and Privacy colleagues as needed to support Retail Trade and related activities

Requirements

  • 7+ years of legal experience with a law firm or in-house with a healthcare company
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one state and member in good standing of applicable state bar association(s)
  • Experience with Retail Trade arrangements
  • Intellectual curiosity and adopter of new technology, including AI, in the workplace
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations including federal Anti-Kickback statute and False Claims Act
  • Experience in aspects of healthcare related to Retail Trade services
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex services agreements, discount agreements, and data agreements in the Trade space
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work as a team player
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and drive
  • Champion engagement by promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
