Job Description

As Bitvavo continues to scale as one of Europe’s leading digital asset exchanges, we are seeking a Corporate Senior Legal Counsel to play a critical role in strengthening our legal foundations. You will join the Legal team as a trusted advisor, supporting our Executive Team, People and cross-functional stakeholders across the business. While your focus will be on Employment Law, your remit will extend to corporate governance, M&A and privacy. Your work will help ensure Bitvavo remains agile, compliant and well-positioned to deliver on its mission to make digital assets accessible to all.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the primary legal advisor on Dutch employment law, including recruitment, dismissals, compensation, and benefits
  • Draft, review, and update employment contracts, HR policies, and settlement agreements to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage complex employee cases such as long-term illness, performance issues, and conflict resolution
  • Support Works Council (OR) processes by preparing formal advice and consent requests and fostering collaborative dialogue
  • Oversee corporate housekeeping and governance for Bitvavo and its group entities, maintaining accurate legal records
  • Support M&A and internal restructuring initiatives, including due diligence and post-closing integration
  • Collaborate with the DPO on privacy matters relating to employee data and internal corporate processes

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Dutch Law (LL.M), with a focus on Employment or Corporate Law preferred
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience, ideally in a top-tier law firm or dynamic in-house legal environment
  • Deep expertise in Dutch employment law and a proven track record of handling complex legal HR matters
  • Strong generalist knowledge of corporate housekeeping, governance frameworks, and M&A processes
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages
  • A proactive, pragmatic mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative, ethical approach with a strong sense of ownership and alignment with Bitvavo’s values

  • Act as the legal lead for EMEA Global Mobility. Provide expert guidance on visa work permits, sponsorship requirements (including Critical Skills), and Right to Work compliance to support international talent acquisition.

  • Develop and implement scalable employment policies, handbooks, and training programs that support a high-growth global workforce.
