We are looking for a meticulous Senior Legal Assistant to provide crucial support to a team of attorneys in Albany, New York. This role involves performing advanced administrative and clerical tasks, preparing complex legal documents, managing client interactions, and ensuring deadlines are met with precision. The ideal candidate will be skilled in legal software, adept at multitasking, and experienced in mentoring less experienced team members.
Job Responsibility:
Draft and format legal documents, correspondence, memos, and various forms with accuracy and attention to detail
Proofread materials to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting
Organize tasks to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments established by attorneys
Open and maintain client files, including records management for both clients and the firm
Communicate professionally with clients on behalf of attorneys and facilitate client interactions
Manage State and Federal electronic filing processes and ensure compliance with rules of practice
Prepare detailed Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, and transcripts as required
Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate scheduling efficiently
Perform billable tasks as needed to support the practice team
Guide and mentor less experienced Legal Assistants, contributing to their growth
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal administrative roles or equivalent
Advanced understanding of legal terminology, forms, documents, and procedures
Proficiency in State and Federal rules of practice, including electronic filing processes
Strong technical skills, including expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, DocuSign, and other legal software
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret complex instructions
High attention to detail, particularly in proofreading for grammar, spelling, and formatting
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to handle competing priorities
Notary public license preferred, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
