Job Description

In this position, you will join our Water Utilities team, playing an integral role in delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will provide design leadership for medium-sized projects or packages, ensuring excellence in engineering deliverables while mentoring junior engineers and designers.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead civil design for municipal water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, including networks design and pumping systems
  • Apply hydraulic engineering principles to open channel and closed conduit systems
  • Provide engineering guidance and quality assurance across all deliverables generated by junior engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Manage design packages for medium-sized projects or facilities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Utilize digital design tools such as Plant 3D, Civil 3D, 12D, AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software for design management and execution
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across project teams and clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in design management of medium-sized projects or packages/facilities
  • Proven track record as civil design lead in municipal water and wastewater treatment infrastructure
  • Expertise in networks design and pumping systems (water & wastewater)
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic engineering for open channel and closed conduit systems
  • Ability to instruct and mentor junior engineers, designers, and drafters, providing guidance and quality assurance
  • Experience using Plant 3D, Civil 3D, 12D, AutoCAD, Revit (any of the listed)
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder communication and management skills

Nice to have

  • Experience in detailed design and construction is advantage
  • Knowledge of Australian water industry standards and codes is advantage

  • Perform broad, varied and diverse water and wastewater infrastructure engineering design tasks, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies
  • Engage in the development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed design through produce engineering calculations, sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats, and prepare documentation in various civil phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, diagrams, submittal reviews and response to information requests as required
  • Prepare portions of engineering project proposals, change orders, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
  • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments serve as a liaison between senior engineer and design team
  • Ensure all technical outputs conform to the project scope, are safe and are of appropriate quality (confirmed by independent review)
