CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Laboratory Manager to join a Life Sciences solutions provider revolutionising biomedical research who are based in Macclesfield on a fixed term contract basis for 9 months. Our client is developing solutions designed to help scientists, researchers, and clinicians solve the world’s greatest health challenges.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee testing of clinical samples and supervise, mentor, and develop laboratory staff, including scientists, technicians and support personnel
  • Lead a high-throughput clinical genome sequencing laboratory, including technical troubleshooting, developing and writing operational procedures, setting laboratory key performance indicators and establishing quality metrics
  • Design and implement processes and procedures to ensure efficient turnaround times and accuracy of results and oversee daily laboratory operations, including workflow optimization, resource allocation and equipment maintenance
  • Prepare and manage laboratory budgets, monitor expenditures and optimize resource utilization
  • Ensure all processes comply with national regulations, organizational policies and accreditation requirements and maintain ISO 15189, CAP and other accreditation standards, including preparation for audits and inspections
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Educated to PhD level ideally
  • Extensive experience in a high-throughput clinical DNA Sequencing laboratory
  • Experience with clinical assay development, process development and project management
  • Proven track record in team leadership, staff development and laboratory management
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance and Quality Control applications in clinical diagnostics
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical applications and manage laboratory automation systems
  • Strong knowledge of quality control practices and regulations of UKAS, ISO 15189, CAP and other regulatory agencies

  • Lead and develop the animal nutrition department (10-15 FTE) in China R&I, including from Principal Scientists to Lab Technicians
  • Based on market and customer needs, and the frontier technologies in animal nutrition, manage and continuously enrich healthy R&I pipelines especially for the Specialties Feed Additives Business, and ensure the NPD milestones and deliveries, together with relevant internal partners such as Business Development Managers, Product Managers, Technical Services and Specialties Operations
  • Provide back-office and research-based supports to complex problems among pro-, on- and post-sales scenarios during initial promotion periods after product launches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure that all products meet standards
  • Manage, operate and develop the animal nutrition platforms from in-vitro, ex-vivo, to in-vivo in R&I center. Manage animal trials and relevant testing institutes for R&I and product promotion activities. Design and implement experiments to evaluate the efficacy of different feed additives on animal growth, health, and production
  • Review and track the state-of-the-art literatures and researches, and collaborate with external research partners and academic institutions, to ensure advanced and frontier understanding of animal nutrition and feed additive domains
