We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, problem-solving individual to join our Laboratory Operations team. This role is intended for an experienced laboratory operations professional who enjoys hands-on work, owning day to day lab processes and supporting a fast paced lab environment. The Lab Operations Associate plays a critical role in enabling scientists and engineers by ensuring laboratories are safe, organized, compliant and fully operational- allowing teams to focus on experimentation, innovation and product development.
Job Responsibility:
Support laboratories: perform day-to-day routine equipment maintenance, schedule calibration/preventative maintenance, organize lab operation processes, and support general lab activities along with the Lab Operations team to promote an efficient working environment
Act as a point of contact for lab-related service vendors and contractors including stockroom inventory, lab coat laundering, pipette management
Install, inventory, maintain, troubleshoot, coordinate services, and retire lab equipment when necessary
Utilize lab asset tracking tools and documentation platforms (e.g., spreadsheets, ticketing systems, inventory management systems, and internal databases) to track equipment, inventory and service records
Document, organize, and analyze service agreements and reports obtained from calibration and maintenance processes from external vendors
Perform other duties as assigned in conjunction with the Laboratory Operations team
Collaborate with EH&S, Facilities, Logistics, and IT teams to ensure a safe and functional lab environment and serve as a trusted partner by identifying gaps, improving lab processes and escalating risks or issues as needed
Work collaboratively with R&D stakeholders and procurement and finance business partners to assess R&D equipment needs
Requirements:
Associate's Degree in biological, chemical, or related science field
2-3+ years of hands-on experience supporting laboratory operations in an R&D or scientific environment
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities and solve problems in a fast paced laboratory environment
Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions oriented mindset
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Nice to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, or related science field
Hands on experience performing internal preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, basic equipment servicing and maintaining service documentation
