Job Description:

A leading company in the financial services sector is looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a global engineering team building the systems that power customer journeys across multiple international markets. This is a senior backend engineering role within a global customer data domain, focused on building and evolving enterprise-grade backend systems that support millions of users across digital banking platforms. You’ll be joining a high-impact engineering environment responsible for modernising and scaling core customer data services, moving from fragmented legacy systems toward a unified global platform used across multiple countries.

Job Responsibility:

Building and evolving scalable backend services that support global customer data management
Designing and developing high-quality backend applications used across multiple international markets
Helping modernise legacy platforms into scalable, maintainable domain-driven services
Owning features end-to-end, from requirement discussions through design, development, deployment, and production support
Contributing to technical design and architecture decisions across the platform
Writing clean, maintainable, production-grade code
Performing meaningful code reviews with a strong focus on quality, maintainability, and business value
Supporting resilient, observable, business-critical systems in production
Mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices across the team

Requirements:

8+ years of experience in backend software engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
Strong experience building backend services, APIs, and enterprise-grade distributed systems
Experience designing scalable systems in modern backend environments
Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Hexagonal Architecture
Experience working on complex enterprise systems with multiple integrations and stakeholders
Strong understanding of clean code, maintainability, and scalable software design
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production-grade software delivery
Experience with observability, monitoring, and reliability in production systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with engineers, product stakeholders, and business teams
Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to team growth
A strong ownership mindset and comfort taking responsibility for services end-to-end

Nice to have:

Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments
Experience with Cassandra or similar distributed or NoSQL databases
Experience with Azure and infrastructure-related engineering tasks
Experience with customer data platforms or business-critical service layers
Exposure to AI-assisted development workflows or modern engineering tooling
