As a Senior IT Systems Engineer at Bitvavo, you will design, operate, and evolve the technology backbone that enables every employee to work productively, securely, and efficiently. You will combine deep technical expertise with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, anticipating needs, simplifying complexity, and continuously improving how IT delivers value. Reporting to the Head of IT, you will act as a trusted partner and technical leader within the team, ensuring that IT services scale with Bitvavo’s growth while staying reliable, secure, and user-focused.
Job Responsibility:
Design and lead the evolution of core IT systems and services, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs
Solve complex technical challenges across platforms such as identity (Okta), endpoint (Apple), collaboration (Google Workspace, Slack, etc), cloud environments, and access management, driving preventive and automated solutions
Shape operational excellence by setting standards, monitoring performance, and embedding reliability, compliance, and documentation discipline
Drive improvement projects, introducing new tools, integrations, and processes that enhance productivity and system resilience
Act as a technical mentor and role model, enabling the team through guidance, documentation, and hands-on support when needed
Collaborate with security, compliance, and business teams to ensure systems and processes support broader organizational objectives
Represent IT in cross-functional initiatives, translating business needs into reliable, data-driven technology solutions
Continuously optimize the IT landscape through automation, simplification, and forward-looking design
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in IT systems administration or engineering, with proven expertise in managing complex, mission-critical environments
Deep knowledge of identity, access management, Apple endpoint management, and SaaS/cloud ecosystems
Strong understanding of operational frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and experience with ITSM tools such as Jira Service Management
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and prevent issues, not just resolve them, improving reliability through structure, monitoring, and automation
Practical scripting or no/low-code integration skills to improve workflows and automate processes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to explain complex ideas clearly, build trust, and drive alignment
A proactive leader and self-starter who takes ownership of outcomes, influences peers positively, and promotes collaboration across teams
