IT Agile PM/Release Train Engineers are responsible for the oversight and success of Information Technology and related Business projects. IT Agile PM/Release Train Engineers manage the budgetary, scheduling and delivery of assigned initiatives in compliance with the standards and procedures of the PMO/Next Generation Delivery Organization. The PM/Release Train Engineers primary focus is leading program and train-level execution, forming and building a team of teams, removing impediments, and driving continuous improvement. They are responsible for managing all aspects of team delivery including schedule, scope, costs, risks, dependencies, and issues. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a leader and coach on the Agile Release Train (ART), a team of teams that plan, commit, develop, and deploy software together to deliver significant value to Eversource’s end customers. This leader/ coach possesses a strong understanding of Agile and can execute and manage Agile processes. The RTE will lead and guide one or more ARTs (depending on the size and complexity of the ART) in accordance with SAFe principles, ensuring alignment across teams and optimizing the flow of value. S/he will operate as a servant leader and coach, fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement across the ART.
Job Responsibility:
Manages a significant complex enterprise level program, or multiple projects concurrently
Work with the other Project Managers and have experience with a multi-system implementation and cross system integrations of complex business processes
Experience delivering large complex projects with multiple systems and new application implementation integrating with legacy systems
Both a business and technology focus in running projects
Advocate and support the policies, processes, and practices of the Program Management Office (PMO)/Next Generation Delivery Organization
Develops and communicates plans to deliver major IT initiatives
Serves as the IT point of contact and the primary interface on initiatives
Outlines the responsibilities of different principals / parties
Coordinate preparation of statements of work and specifications, estimation of product / service costs and pricing, and negotiation and administration of contracts
Negotiates Information Technologies interests and manages external vendor, contractor, and material contracts
Monitor budget, resource levels, and advise principals as to developing trends and prepare periodic variance projections
Ensure that dependencies outside the Team are understood and proactively managed
Ensure that risks and issues between teams and with the rest of the organization are understood and managed against expectations
Ensure that all training and transition management activities are in place for the customer base
Ensure communications, collaboration and coordination across teams, business partners and other areas of IT
Develop and implement alternatives and/or solutions to mitigate problems, issues, conflicts, etc
Facilitates key ART-level events, including PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt, ART Sync, and Scrum of Scrums
Trains, Mentors and Coaches Product Owners and Scrum Masters
Communicates with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risks, and drive relentless improvement
Maintains agile tools and dashboards to track progress towards PI objectives and flow of value
Communicate program progress, health, status, risks and impediments to business and IT leaders
Drives ART delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing ART retrospective, assessment, and metrics to identify areas of opportunity
Creates a compelling vision, clear direction, and strategy for the team
Promotes DevOps principles inside the organization to aid in the design and continuous enhancement of a continuous delivery pipeline
Encourage Organizational Change Management (OCM), communications and training as needed to drive process and tool adoption, implementation, and compliance
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience
Five (5+) years for large Project Management experience
Five (5 ) years working with Lean- Agile methodologies in a large organization
Three (3) years of experience as RTE, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Project/Program Manager
SAFe Release Train Engineer or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification
PMP Certified
Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
Nice to have:
Experience working with Data Product Owners planning and designing data source system integrations and data analytics solutions
Experience working with data engineering teams to deliver ETL pipelines, data models, and data products
Experience working with business stakeholders and data teams to implement data governance processes and procedures
Knowledge of big data technologies, such as Azure cloud storage for data lakes, Databricks for ETL and analytics, Power BI for data visualization, and Collibra for data cataloging
Experience in delivering large programs using SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
Experiences in delivering large and complex projects involving Utility Meter and Billing Systems and Smart Grid related initiatives
Experience in Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Implementations
Knowledge of Advance Metering Infrastructure Customer Portal and Presentment and Analytics Technologies
Knowledge of Oracle, SAP, and Database Technologies
Understanding of Utility Metering and Billing Systems
Understanding of Information Technologies (IT) and Operational Technologies (OT) Project Management
