The Senior IT Enterprise Architect/Strategist will drive the technical modernization of large-scale enterprise systems, leading the transition from legacy monolithic architectures to modular, domain-specific services. This role is pivotal in defining long-term strategic roadmaps and ensuring the implementation of a resilient, scalable, and highly available services platform. You will act as a primary lead in system decomposition and service-oriented evolution, ensuring all technical solutions align with broad organizational goals and provincial standards.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the strategy to decompose legacy monolithic systems into modular, scalable, and domain-specific services
Create and maintain enterprise-wide technology roadmaps and strategic evolution plans for digital connectivity and service delivery
Lead technical evaluations to determine the viability of in-house development versus outsourcing specific services to third-party providers
Establish architecture methods and frameworks, lead architecture review boards, and mentor engineering teams through complex system designs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure technical roadmaps align perfectly with business objectives
Define standard messaging interfaces and service protocols to ensure seamless integration across distributed systems
Drive the delivery of large-scale software projects, ensuring they meet strategic targets and technical standards
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience within the Ontario home-based service or related public sector domain
10+ years of experience in large-scale software solution architecture
TOGAF Certification is mandatory
University degree in Computer Science or a related equivalent field
Proven experience working within public sector environments, adhering to enterprise standards and gating processes
Extensive experience with distributed systems, microservices decomposition, and integrating complex software ecosystems
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of influencing stakeholders and leading multi-team initiatives
