Our client, a leading independent investment management firm, is looking for a Senior Investment Counsellor to join their expanding Institutional Investment Team in Downtown Toronto. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned investment professional who thrives on developing institutional relationships, understands the dynamics of capital markets, and is eager to contribute to the firm’s continued growth across Ontario and Manitoba.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and expand relationships with institutional clients, including pension funds, insurance companies, endowments, and investment consultants across Ontario and Manitoba
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, implementing targeted growth strategies to strengthen the firm’s institutional presence
Act as a trusted advisor—reviewing asset allocation, investment policy, and communicating the firm’s market outlook and portfolio positioning
Collaborate with portfolio management, client service, and compliance teams to ensure a seamless and high-quality client experience
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance visibility and credibility
Maintain accurate records of client interactions and business development activities in CRM systems
Requirements:
5–10+ years of experience in institutional investment management, investment banking, consulting, or a related field
Proven ability to build and maintain long-term institutional client relationships
Strong understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction, and institutional investor needs
CFA charterholder and/or CIM designation (must meet OSC/AMF registration requirements)
University degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline (MBA/MS an asset)
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Self-starter with high integrity, professionalism, and strong business development acumen
