Job Description:

Robert Half is partnering with a Des Moines insurance company to identify and hire a Senior Investment Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the preparation and analysis of investment-related financial statements and reports. You will also oversee investment accounting systems and databases while collaborating with various teams across the organization to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external investment financial statements and reports
  • Maintain and update the investment accounting system to ensure accurate and timely data
  • Conduct cash flow projections and manage the investment database to support financial planning
  • Act as a subject matter expert on investment accounting, providing guidance on complex assignments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with statutory and GAAP accounting standards
  • Analyze investment portfolios, including derivatives and fixed income assets, to support reporting requirements
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and company policies in all investment accounting activities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the investment reporting and analysis functions
  • Develop and deliver insights to support strategic decision-making related to investments
  • Assist in audits and regulatory reviews by providing accurate documentation and responses

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Proven experience in investment accounting and/or financial services/insurance industry
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles (STAT)
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining investment accounting systems and databases
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools
