Shea is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer specializing in restaurant, hospitality, retail, and corporate/workplace environments to join our dynamic Minneapolis design firm. As a Senior Designer at Shea, you’ll collaborate with other designers, architects, and team members in developing creative solutions through all phases of design, approaching each project with a strategic mindset to help our clients reach their goals. In a senior role, you’ll apply your advanced knowledge and experience to elevate your projects, as well as uplift the team around you from guiding Junior Designers and ensuring a high-level of detail to thoroughly reviewing presentations and submitted work. You’ll work within the realms of restaurant + hospitality, retail, and workplace, pulling best practices from across industries to create one-of-a-kind spaces and experiences.
Job Responsibility:
Share knowledge and your experience with others providing guidance to up-and-coming designers at Shea and elevating our team as a whole
Collaborate with architects and other designers to develop project designs, including floor plans, finishes, furnishings, materials, décor, etc.
Create detailed space plans and 3D renderings that address flow, furniture arrangement, lighting plans, and spatial challenges
Research, select and specify materials, finishes, lighting, and furniture that align with both design and functional requirements within the allocated project budget and schedule
Present design concepts to the client clearly and effectively while representing Shea in a professional manner
Requirements:
A high-level of design skills and demonstrated excellence in development of conceptual design supported by strategic thinking and rationale to support your ideas
The ability to merge those design skills with an understanding of consumer experience and design of space to bring brands and experiences to life
In-depth knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within commercial environments, including interior materials, finishes, furniture, and equipment
Translation of approved design to the production of construction documents, and through construction administration under the direction/collaboration of project manager and/or Architect
Skills to verbally illustrate, rationalize, and present design concepts to teammates and clients clearly and effectively, with the ability to give and receive direction
Understanding of basic building code, detailed construction documents, and ability to determine compliance in quality and alignment with design
Capacity to thrive independently and in a teamwork setting, able to shift between multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Adobe Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Revit and a drive to stay current and curious in your level of knowledge and abilities
10+ years of design experience
