BDP Quadrangle is seeking a capable and talented detail-oriented senior interior designer. We are looking for original thinkers who live for fresh ideas, love building and understand how to execute a high-level design language. Candidates should understand that successful design is collaboration and not a solitary pursuit; they should be looking for a studio that needs people who excel at each stage of the design process on large projects, from high-level concept to design continuity and detailing, and be looking for opportunities to mentor, motivate and contribute to our studio.
Job Responsibility:
Work directly with the Design Director to develop design concepts and the preparation of presentation packages and materials
Assist in the development of design details, while ensuring they are communicated throughout the project
Upon approval of the design, see through the completion of the construction drawings and details, carrying through the design intent
Maintain a high level of design thinking and execution
Lead and oversee the coordination of external consultants
Manage project resources, team time and deadlines to meet deliverables
Ensure a high level of design production, including data gathering, space planning and production of construction drawing tasks
Manage project fees and budgets
Maintain client relationships
Delegate, lead and teach others
Strong understanding of individual responsibilities on a construction site
Understanding of industry changes, trends, and growths, and demonstrates an interest in continuing education specific to industry needs
Demonstrates an excellent understanding of materiality and appropriateness of products and finishes for intended use
Actively aids in building and strengthening team through both social and active recruiting methods
Requirements:
Minimum of ten years of experience working in a design practice
Must have an Interior Design degree or diploma
Actively pursuing, or has obtained, a professional designations such as NCIDQ, LEED or WELL or others
Strong knowledge of building science, construction methods and detailing
Excellent design and visual communication skills
Critical thinking, effective problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong collaboration skills
Ability to mentor and train intermediate and junior level staff
Strong organisational skills demonstrated through information management and communication of tasks, schedules and documentation
Excellent verbal and written communication
Solid understanding of building construction and experience carrying the design through all phases and into construction
