This posting is for a Senior Systems Engineer to support NASA’s Human Exploration Development and Operations (HEDO) Office at Marshall Space Flight Center. This position directly supports the Multi-Purpose Habitation (MPH) effort and focuses on system-level integration, international partner coordination, requirements development, risk management, verification and validation planning, and cross-discipline SE&I leadership for human-rated exploration systems. The selected candidate will serve as a self-starter integrator and strong communicator capable of driving results across multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and international partners, including the Italian Space Agency.
Job Responsibility
Lead system-level integration activities influencing the architecture, design, development, test, qualification, and acceptance of Multi-Purpose Habitation systems
Serve as a primary integrator across NASA, contractor teams, and international partners to ensure technical alignment and lifecycle readiness
Develop, review, and mature system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification success criteria
Lead development and tracking of technical risks, including identification, mitigation planning, and status reporting
Plan, lead, and facilitate Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with domestic and international stakeholders
Provide independent review and analysis of planning, processes, products, and integration strategies and recommend improvements
Provide leadership and support for review and release of technical documents, including Change Requests (CRs) in coordination with internal and external SMEs, other NASA programs and projects, and international partners
Provide leadership and support for boards, panels, technical meetings, trades and analysis, and stakeholder coordination, including providing stakeholder impact assessments
Develop and support Concept of Operations (ConOps), verification planning, and data analysis strategies
Review international partner deliverables and provide technically sound, actionable feedback throughout design cycles
Provide written and oral status in the form of executive-level presentations and technical briefings
Support management and control of data architecture and configuration management processes
Coordinate and perform cross program integration activities across multiple disciplines, organizations, and international partners to ensure program success
Perform other duties as required in support of Multi-Purpose Habitation SE&I objectives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of 15 years of direct engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or complex system development environments or MS degree and 13 years of direct engineering experience or PHD and 10 years of direct engineering experience
Demonstrated senior-level SE&I experience supporting complex or human-rated aerospace development programs
Experience leading or coordinating system-level integration activities across multiple organizations, contractors, or partners
Experience developing, reviewing, or approving system requirements, interface requirements, or verification strategies
Experience supporting major technical milestone reviews. (e.g., SRR, SDR, PDR, or equivalent)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level briefing capability
Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute assigned SE&I responsibilities and coordinate across stakeholders to drive technical issues to closure
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams including systems engineering, safety, human factors, and hardware development organizations
Proficiency with standard engineering documentation and presentation tools. (e.g. Microsoft Office suite or equivalent)
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Experience supporting human-rated spaceflight programs (e.g., habitation systems, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or exploration systems development)
Experience coordinating cross-program or multi-organization integration efforts
Experience supporting verification and validation (V&V) planning, verification traceability, and closure activities
