Job Description

A research-intensive university in the Midlands is seeking an experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to support its data protection and information governance function on an initial 3-month contract. The role sits within a small team and will manage statutory information requests and provide internal advice on data protection matters.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
  • Handling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other information requests, including police requests
  • Advising staff on data protection and information governance matters
  • Supporting Privacy Notices, Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs), and DPIAs
  • Managing data sharing agreements, controller/processor contracts, and international data transfers
  • Responding to personal data breaches and delivering data protection training

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in data protection or information governance
  • Strong knowledge of FOI and data protection legislation
  • Higher education experience desirable
