The Senior Industrial Safety Consultant provides independent HSE and industrial safety advisory, assessment, and assurance services to nuclear and other high-hazard projects. The role focuses on helping clients establish, evaluate, and improve safety management systems, comply with regulatory requirements, and foster strong safety and nuclear safety culture. This position is consultative and assurance-focused, supporting owners, operators, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPCs), and government clients rather than performing direct construction supervision.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver independent industrial safety and HSE consultancy on complex nuclear and high-hazard projects in the U.S. and internationally
Develop, review, and assess HSE strategies, management systems, and project safety documentation
Provide expert advice on hazard identification, risk control, and safe work execution
Interpret and apply U.S. and international regulatory frameworks (Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), DOE Worker Safety & Health, NRC interfaces, and applicable international standards)
Perform regulatory gap assessments, compliance reviews, and audit support, providing clear, defensible recommendations
Perform and review advanced safety and risk studies, including hazard analyses, risk assessments, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), fire protection, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) (as applicable), and safety case inputs
Support integration of industrial safety into nuclear safety cases and risk-informed decision making
Support development of industrial and nuclear safety culture through training, leadership engagement, and performance reviews
Act as a trusted technical advisor to client leadership and project teams
Lead or support delivery of HSE technical work packages, ensuring quality, schedule, and scope control
Interface with clients, regulators, EPC partners, and multidisciplinary teams
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline
7+ years of experience in industrial safety and/or HSE roles within nuclear, construction, manufacturing or other high-hazard industries
Demonstrated experience with: Industrial safety management systems
Hazard analysis and risk assessment
Regulatory compliance and assurance
Strong professional-level English (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
Experience supporting nuclear facilities, DOE sites, or NRC-regulated projects
Professional HSE certification (e.g. CSP, ASP, CHST, or equivalent)
Experience in project or technical task leadership
Familiarity with nuclear safety culture principles
Valid driver’s licence, as travel to client sites is expected
