Job Description

HEI is seeking a team member to help develop and grow our hydrogeological services group. The role involves advising on groundwater management, remediation, compliance, and collaborating on multidisciplinary projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Advise and supervise/coordinate with field staff to collect groundwater samples and analyze subsurface conditions
  • Coordinate installation of monitoring wells, and the performance of aquifer tests to determine hydraulic properties
  • Prepare annual groundwater monitoring reports for regulatory agency compliance providing statistical analysis of regulated substances
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
  • Advise on groundwater management strategies, remediation of contaminated sites, and sustainable water usage
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and land planners on multidisciplinary projects ranging from groundwater water resources to solid waste management
  • Generate technical work plans and proposals for field assessments, site characterizations, monitoring and data collection of contaminated soils, surface water, sediment and groundwater
  • Support junior staff to interpret water quality data, conduct statistical analysis of geologic and groundwater chemistry, complete analytical modeling/feasibility studies and develop technical reports
  • Project management including internal team coordination and direct coordination with clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Professional certification or licensure as a hydrogeologist in Minnesota and an ability to expand licensure within our geographic footprint (where applicable)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience
  • Candidate must be willing to travel up to 5%, with some overnight travel throughout the upper Midwest region for project meetings, project management, business development related activities, and occasional outdoor work to support junior staff.

  • Preference for experience working in consulting environment
  • Prior work experience with industrial sites including solid waste management facilities (preferred).
